Waterfield Practice

Waterfield PracticeThe Practice
We are a large modern practice working across two sites and caring for the needs of over 12000 patients. Both sites are well equipped and recently refurbished and patients, clinicians and staff move happily between them.

Over recent years we have enjoyed strong growth in our patient list whilst successfully expanding and developing the services offered. The practice works closely with Bracknell and Ascot CCG to help develop primary care for the locality and provide both the Urgent Care Lead and Diabetic Lead for the CCG.

The Team
We have an experienced and loyal team of clinicians and support staff which comprises 6 partners, 3 salaried GPs, 5 nurses, 1 HCA and around 20 administrative staff. Together they deliver the wide range of services you would expect from a modern general practice with innovation and improvement a constant aim. We are also very proud of the fact that three of our past registrars have returned to the practice to take on permanent roles.

As a practice we have strong relationships, and work closely, with the wider primary care team. Community midwives, Talking Therapies and physiotherapists work from both sites and we also work closely with community nursing, health visitors, social care and the community pharmacist to ensure patients experience ‘joined up’ care when needed.

The Training
We are a successful training practice with a whole team committed to the learning experience and involved in providing input and support.

The practice was praised by the Deanery in our December 2015 re-approval and it was recognised as a “practice that has changed significantly over the past decade to become a functioning learning organization” and “training seemed to be immersed throughout the practice”.

In December 2015 it was acknowledged that having the “input of the Practice Manager to the planning of training, the tutorials and as another opinion on non-clinical assessments is invaluable” and that “the skills that he brings to planning the non-clinical aspects of the training and the additional breadth he brings to training, planning and feedback is innovative”.

IT Systems
We are an Emis Web Practice with Docman and Lexacom and are virtually paper free. The practice is proud of its cutting edge website and have over a third of the patient list actively using online services. The practice also makes use of technology to support patients in the form of text messaging and social media.

The Culture
We enjoy working with our trainees and watching them grow in confidence and knowledge. We are proud that everyone tells us we are a friendly practice and a lovely place to work. If you would like to look around or come and see us we will give you a warm welcome.

Location
Bracknell offers all the amenities for modern living and is very close to the M3, M4 and M25. London is very accessible by road or train and there is a great choice of sports, leisure and shopping within easy reach.
