Ringmead Medical Practice

The Practice currently consists of seven partners, and presently four salaried doctors. The clinical team comprises of five practice nurses (two of whom are ANPs), a full time clinical pharmacist in the practice and a part-time pharmacist via the federation, three Paramedic Practitioners, two Assistant Practitioners and three healthcare assistants. There is an excellent administration team comprising of a Practice Manager with a clinical background, a deputy Practice Manager, an IT Manager, a Quality and Safety Manager (new post), a full time Patient Services Manager, three Patient Services (reception) supervisors and admin/support/reception and secretarial staff. At Wellington College, we are supported by a team of dedicated nurses working from a School Health Centre.

The Practice provides services for a relatively stable population of just over 22,500 in south of Bracknell and Crowthorne.

The Practice is highly committed to training, newly accredited GP training practice and also existing training practice for FY2 doctors and physician associates, as well as mentoring medical students from Southampton University. The practice also engages regularly in various local, national, and international research and audit programmes.

The practice provides medical cover to Wellington College, Crowthorne, for about 1200 patients including students and staff. This involves daily short surgeries, daytime medical services, support and cover for sports events on Saturdays in the September to December school term.

We endeavour to provide a high standard of service and have achieved top QOF points, year on year. In 2017 Ringmead was a finalist in the ‘General Practice Awards’ for being the most innovative practice in terms of developing the practice team.

We provide Antenatal, Heart disease, Diabetes (including Insulin initiation), Asthma and COPD clinics. In addition, we provide Childhood immunisations and run a comprehensive Travel Clinic. Sexual Health advice is offered by all GPs and a number of GPs carry out LARC counselling and fitting/removing of the devices (Nexplanon, IUD/IUS). We carry out various cardiac diagnostics (24-hour ECG and Blood Pressure monitoring), and minor surgery at the Practice premises for our patients and those of other practices within the CCG.

We have the good fortune to be serviced by excellent clinicians in Royal Berkshire Hospital Reading and Frimley Health NHS Trust – with sites in Wexham Park and Heatherwood Hospitals in Slough and Ascot, and Frimley Park Hospital in Camberley.

There is currently no out-of hours cover commitment by the practice and this is provided for by a local provider overnight starting at 6.30pm to 8am weekdays and the whole weekend.

The practice does currently provide an extended hours service with clinics starting at 730am on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; and evening surgery 630-730pm alternating sites each week. This is covered on a rota basis
