We are a large urban training practice based in three purpose-built surgeries, looking after over 32,000 patients. Our vision is – Putting Patients First.
The practice is committed to innovation in providing high quality health care for our patients and a protected working and learning environment for our staff. Our Primary Health Care Team is continually growing with GPs working with Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Physician Associates, Clinical Pharmacists and Paramedics supported by a Social Prescriber and Care Coordinators. We have visiting Substance Misuse Recovery workers, Talking Therapies professionals, MSK First Contact Practitioners, District Nurses and Midwives.
Our entire team is committed to training. We have five GP trainers, and three others in training, who with our other colleagues, train doctors, medical students, Practice Nurses, Physician Associate, nursing and pharmacy students and Clinical Pharmacists. We have at least one educational meeting a week. We have GPs actively involved with the Frimley Health Clinical Commissioning Group. We place an emphasis on communication, continual development and learning from each other’s experiences through quality improvement, incident recording and team problem sharing and solving.
We encourage our staff to have interests outside the practice, which we believe helps improve the quality and range of care we offer to patients and provide additional training opportunities for learners at the practice. Currently we have GPs with special interests in Substance Misuse, Gynaecology, Cardiology, Diabetes, Dermatology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics and Minor Surgery.
This is a busy practice with a varied mix of population, ethnicity and interesting pathology. We work hard and enjoy what we do because it is a stimulating place in which to learn. We are keen to share our enthusiasm for primary care and this was featured through our involvement with the 2016-17 Channel 5 TV series, ‘GPs Behind Closed Doors’.
You will find us to be a genuinely warm, friendly and supportive group, comprising a variety of characters from different backgrounds. Our trainees have gone on to have successful careers and many have continued to work at Farnham Road Medical Group – the majority of our medical team trained at Farnham Road Medical Group. In the post-Covid world we will once again make time to socialise as a practice with charity events and our summer and Christmas parties.
